Allan J. Berg, PhD, JD

Allan J. BergAllan J. Berg, PhD, serves as vice president and director, UMUC Asia. In this position, he executes the academic, administrative, and fiscal policies of UMUC Asia and assures compliance with its U.S. Pacific Command contract. Dr. Berg held positions with UMUC Europe as division director; area director for the Benelux, North Central Germany, and the United Kingdom; director of downrange operations; and associate dean. With UMUC Asia, he was the area director for Okinawa, a resident graduate professor, and a collegiate faculty member.

Dr. Berg earned his BA in psychology and business at Augsburg College in Minnesota, his MS and PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Georgia, and his JD at Southern Illinois University. He was a tenured professor teaching undergraduate and graduate psychology at Washington College in Maryland and Hanover College in Indiana for many years before joining UMUC’s overseas program in 1994. Additionally, he is an experienced mediator and a licensed psychologist.
