Aric Krause, PhD
Aric Krause, PhD, is vice provost and dean of The Graduate School at University of Maryland University College (UMUC). Prior to UMUC, Dr. Krause was dean of the Division of New Learning at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. He joined UMUC in 2013. Dr. Krause has been working in higher education as a faculty member and administrator for 15 years.
Dr. Krause received a PhD in Economics from Colorado State University in 1998, a master’s degree in Economics from DePaul University in 1993, and a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in 1987. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served a total of ten years in both active-duty and reserve statuses.
Dr. Krause began teaching at a local community college in Illinois in 1992 and chose to switch careers after discovering his passion for the learning process.
In the last ten years, Dr. Krause has built innovative academic undergraduate and graduate programs for delivery to adult learners in both the U.S. and international markets. As part of that work, he worked with international partners in Europe, South America and Asia.
