ADELPHI, MD. (August 18, 2008) – UMUC announced today that it has been awarded the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. UMUC was one of only six universities, out of more than 100 applicants, chosen to receive the FIPSE grant. The grant, valued at $600,000 over four years, will begin October 1, 2008.
UMUC plans to use the grant to enhance its Professional Science Master’s (PSM) programs in its Graduate School of Management and Technology by developing an industry guided, Web-based, professional development plan that will initially be integrated throughout its PSM biotechnology degree program.
"UMUC is honored to receive such a prestigious grant to create and implement a state-of-the-art program that will provide our students with an advantage in today’s highly competitive workforce," said UMUC President Susan C. Aldridge. *** can't add more text ***
