University of Maryland University College (UMUC) offers undergraduate classes and student services at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in St. Mary’s County. While this site is not physically located on a military installation, it is a government facility. All students and visitors are required to show a valid form of ID to enter the building. In some instances, a FERPA waiver form may be required.
Route 4 or Route 5, take Route 235 toward Patuxent River. The main gate (Gate 2) is on Route 235. Go past Gate 2, and turn left into the parking lot of Building 2189 (Frank Knox building). Enter the double doors of Building 2189, and the UMUC office is the first office on your left.
Academic advising is available at this location on Thursdays from 9:00am - 4:00pm.
A library service area is available at the Academic Center at Largo. Librarians are also available via e-mail, chat, phone and instant message. Due to recent conditions of heightened security, civilian students taking UMUC classes on military bases may be required to complete a waiver in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act permitting UMUC to provide personal information (such as Social Security Number, address, and telephone number) to the military administration. You may find the FERPA waiver form online.
