Student Services

A representative from University of Maryland University College (UMUC) maintains office hours in the Lifelong Learning Education Center at Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia. We support UMUC students taking classes online or at other university locations. Henderson Hall is a military installation. Please call this location to receive information on base access. In some instances, you may be required to complete a Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) waiver.

 

Directions and Parking

All non-military personnel and civilians with DOD identification holders must access the installation at Gate 1 and will be subject to a vehicle inspection.

Directions to the installation - to the education offices:

  • Take VA-27 to the Columbia Pike Rd. exit on the right
  • Turn left onto Columbia Pike Rd.
  • Turn left onto Orme St.
  • Proceed through Gate 1 and be prepared for a brief security inspection by base police
  • Turn right onto Northeast Rd.
  • Turn right on to US Military Rd.
  • You will find Bldg. 29 on your right side past the parking garage.
  • The education center is located in rm. 204, and the UMUC office is located in rm. 206.

Librarians are available via e-mail, chat, telephone, and instant message. For more information and to access the online catalog, more than 125 research databases, and view tutorials on how to conduct research, please visit the UMUC library.

Testing Services

This location offers Placement testing for writing and math courses on a walk-in basis to members of the military and the civilian community with base access. Placement and proctoring services are available by appointment through the Henderson Hall education center. Please call to schedule an appointment.

Security and Access

All visitors may access the Northern Virginia installations listed below by providing a copy of their license, registration, insurance and could be subject to a brief vehicle inspection. Visitors must enter Henderson Hall through Gate 1 to access the base.

Due to recent conditions of heightened security, civilian students taking UMUC classes on military bases may be required to complete a waiver in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act permitting UMUC to provide personal information (such as Social Security Number, address, and telephone number) to the military administration. You may find the FERPA waiver form online.
