Vista: Contemporary Works by Latin American Artists
Join the UMUC community for Vista: Contemporary Works by Latin American Artists. This exhibition focuses on new expressions by Latin American artists and will include works in a variety of media including oil and acrylic, photography, video, embroidery, and collage, by artists from Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina and elsewhere.
Vista is Spanish for “view.” The name of the exhibition draws upon the inspirations of Latin American artists whose works are featured. These artists pull from the creative process of mapmaking and touch upon issues of identity, immigration, and memory at the same time they explore topography, urbanity, and space.
Vista: Contemporary Works by Latin American Artists is the first full-scale Latin American exhibition held at UMUC. It was organized by the UMUC Arts Program; two guest curators: Eva Mendoza Chandas and Jodie Dinapoli; and Brian Young, curator in the university’s Arts Program. We look forward to you meeting the guest curators and artists for this first of its kind exhibition at UMUC.
