UMUC

Student Handbook

A Message from the Associate Provost, Student Affairs

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) student community where we take pride in the quality of the educational experience you will find here as well as the magnitude of opportunities for student engagement.  The Office of Student Affairs is focused on UMUC’s mission and seven core values.

Students First, Accountability, Diversity, Integrity, Excellence, Innovation and Respect are values that UMUC men and women should live by each day as these principles values guide us in our department in servicing your individual needs. The Office of Student Affairs stays focused on these values to stay strong and to guarantee that each student can sense our commitment to customer service and our core values and yet feels supported in exploring new challenges.  By promoting self-knowledge, leadership and diversity, we are also cultivating student excellence every single day.

We will continue our commitment to innovate and find flexible strategies by providing you with the services you need, when and where you need them. This virtual Student Handbook was developed to help you reach your education goals here at UMUC. It provides basic information on how to take advantage of online services in a self-service approach. There are links provided to resource references, tips on designing your own curriculum and pursing your course of study, as well as all the important UMUC polices and procedures that students need to know.  I suggest you become familiar with the policies and learn more about why these guidelines are so important to respect.

I am passionate about UMUC students and hope that you will let me know how I can serve you better in the future. We do hope this virtual Handbook will help you to identify and use our resources efficiently and effectively.

Best wishes for your academic success,

Dina-Athena S. Skoulikas
