Candice Isaac – 2013-14 Student Advisory Council Representative, Stateside
Candice Isaac is originally from Trinidad and Tobago and currently resides in Maryland, where she has lived for more than nine years. She has a strong administrative background in the hospitality, healthcare, human resources, and government-contracting fields. Isaac is currently pursuing her dreams working in the human resources department for a county government entity in Maryland.
Working full-time and going to school part-time is nothing new to Isaac, who completed her AAS in Paralegal Studies by attending evening classes at Montgomery College. It was no surprise that University of Maryland University College would be next in line to accommodate her schedule. Isaac joined UMUC in fall 2011 to pursue a degree in Legal Studies with a concentration in Human Resource Management. She plans to enroll in graduate school after she completes her undergraduate degree.
Isaac enjoys learning about different cultures, writing, playing tennis, event planning, and exploring Washington, D.C. She also takes advantage of opportunities for volunteering. In addition to being a member of the UMUC Student Advisory Council (STAC), Isaac serves as secretary for the nonprofit organization Global Bees. In her community, she serves on the board of directors for her condominium, which oversees budgetary, operational, and administrative issues.
As a member of the UMUC STAC, Isaac looks forward to engaging the student body and locating the resources necessary to improve students’ time at UMUC.
