Alicia Muse – 2014 UMUC Student Advisory Council Member

Biography

Alicia Muse was born in Schaumburg, Illinois, and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 2005, she joined the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman. Her first duty station was at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California, where she worked in the audiology department performing hearing tests on newborns. In 2008 Muse was transferred to Naples, Italy, where she was selected to receive immunology and allergy training in Washington, D.C.

During her Navy career, Muse was honored as

  • Sailor of the Month for her family practice clinic (first hospital corpsman to receive this honor)
  • Recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal

Muse is now a civilian residing in Yokosuka, Japan, with her husband, who serves as an active-duty member of the military. As a student at University of Maryland University College, Muse is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science with a minor in Communication Studies.

Muse enjoys helping people, volunteering, and learning about different cultures. She is grateful to be part of the UMUC Student Advisory Council and is dedicated to ensuring that the student body voices are heard.
