Changes to Loan Origination Fees for Direct Loan Borrowers
A series of mandatory across-the-board federal budget cuts known as sequestration went into effect in 2013. These cuts affect all federal government programs, including federal student financial aid.
As a result, effective October 1, 2015, loan origination fees for Direct Loan borrowers in the 2015-16 academic year will decrease slightly.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is available at http://fafsa.gov.
When you apply, please enter school code 011644 to ensure University of Maryland University College receives your FAFSA information.
We also encourage you to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, which streamlines the FAFSA process by enabling you to transfer your tax information directly into your application for aid. You can access the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA website.

Book Voucher Update
Please be advised that many UMUC courses will not require you to purchase materials. Please check your class syllabi for information specific to your courses. Book voucher requests cannot be cancelled. If you request a book voucher and only use a portion of the funds, UMUC must wait until the end of the semester to reconcile your account and refund the unused funds to you.
