Sung Shin was born in Seoul, Korea, in 1953. He had come to the USA in March 1979 for further study and eventually joined the U.S. army. He was assigned to administration support department and served for 7 years. Unfortunately, he had to retire because he had hurt his back while he was serving army in 1986.
He has 2 years of college in general study in University of Maryland University College. He married Chang-Sook Kim from Korea, and they have 2 children, Jung-Hyun Shin, and Yong-Hyun Shin, who are college students.
He was a volunteer for Family Services, in Family Support Center at Camp Casey, Korea. He was hired by UMUC in May 1996 and has worked as a full-time Field Representative at Camp East Casey, Camp West Casey, and Camp Howze. He is currently working at Camp Red Cloud.
Sung Shin has been performing his professional responsibilities and promoting the UMUC program locally. He provides education service through innovative marketing and programs because he is excited about education. He always has a pleasant attitude and willpower which shows a great concern for members of U.S. active duty military and their family members.
