UMUC students can take advantage of tutoring services offered at UMUC's Adelphi headquarters and at University of Maryland College Park (UMCP).

Computing
Free tutoring is offered for a number of computer-related courses at our Adelphi location by Software Language Assistants (SLAs).
Location: Adelphi in the Student and Faculty Services Center, Room 1252
Hours: Days and times that tutoring is available change each semester. Copies of the current schedule are kept in the SLA notebook.
Appointment: You must make an appointment in advance. To do so, sign up in the SLA notebook kept in the computer homework lab on the Adelphi campus (SFSC 1270).

Math and Statistics
Free tutoring in undergraduate mathematics and statistics is offered on a walk-in basis. Tutoring sessions may be conducted in either individual or group settings.

Online Tutoring
Online tutoring is available for select courses at UMUC through a special online classroom.
You can post questions, at your convenience, throughout the term and a tutor will respond. Also, you’ll be able to read responses posted to your classmates’ questions.
Please note that tutors are not available for all courses. A select number of high-enrollment entry courses are supported with online tutors.

Study Resources
Computing Resources
UMUC maintains computer labs at Adelphi in the Student and Faculty Services Center. Computer labs are also available at the Dorsey Station, Shady Grove, and Waldorf Centers, among other UMUC locations.
Who May Use the Labs: Facilities are available primarily for the use of students completing coursework, but are also open to faculty members, staff, and alumni on a first-come, first-served basis.
UMUC ID Required: You must bring a valid UMUC ID and a floppy disk (3.5" double sided, high density), CD or a USB flash drive for saving your data or documents.
Lab Assistants: Lab assistants are available during scheduled hours to help you with resident software programs, but cannot provide tutoring.

Information and Library Services
UMUC’s Information and Library Services promotes the use of library technology and resources, teaches library research classes, and provides access to a variety of library resources on the Information and Library ServicesWeb page.
Resources you can access through the Web page include:
- The online catalog of the University System of Maryland and affiliated institutions (USMAI);
- More than 100 databases (many of which provide the full text of journal and newspaper articles); and
- Tutorials on how to do research.
You can access Information and Library Services through WebTycho or any Web browser, as well as at any USMAI library or UMUC regional site.
UMUC reference librarians are available to assist you with your research needs at several locations.

Writing Resources
UMUC's Effective Writing Center (EWC)
The Effective Writing Center offers a variety of online writing services and resources to all UMUC students and faculty worldwide.
To support students, the EWC provides highly accessible personalized online writing advice by experienced, trained advisors and self-service online resources on a variety of writing and information literacy issues.
The EWC serves students at all skill levels and stages of the writing process. In using the EWC, students achieve active learning and improve communication, critical thinking, and information literacy skills.

UMCP Writing Center Information:

UMUC undergraduate students can also receive on-site tutoring from the University of Maryland, College Park's Writing Center, located in Room 0125 of Taliaferro Hall.

NOTE: The UMCP Writing Center is a contracted service for UMUC undergraduate students and is separate from UMUC's Effective Writing Center (EWC).The EWC does not train or supervise UMCP writing advisors.
