SUBJECT: Procedures for Search and Screening - Academic Administrators
In order to fill a position as academic administrator, the President shall constitute, or direct the officer immediately responsible for the vacant position to constitute, a search and screening committee (the "Committee".)
The officer constituting the Committee is to provide a position description; to formally charge the Committee to seek, identify and review candidates for the position; to specify the timetable, the chairperson or the method for naming the chairperson, and the form of the Committee's recommendation.
All positions shall be advertised. Particular efforts are to be made to reach potential candidates who are minorities and/or women. All affirmative action policies of University of Maryland University College shall be scrupulously followed in the search and screening processes.
After candidate interviews, the Committee is to recommend, in order of preference if so instructed, the candidates whom it considers best qualified for the position.
The Committee's recommendations, with all supporting documentation, shall to be reviewed by the responsible administrator and forwarded, with his or her recommendations, through administrative channels to the President for action.
