SUBJECT: Degree Completion Requirements for the Graduate School

  1. Introduction

    1. This Policy is in accordance with the Board of Regents Policy III-7.00 Policy on Degree and Curricular Requirements, approved on April 26, 1990, and outlines the degree-completion requirements for the Graduate School.

    2. In order to be approved for graduation, students must have resolved any outstanding charges of fees or of misconduct and must have complied with the terms of any sanctions. The award of degrees and certificates is conditional upon satisfactory completion of all program requirements and compliance with all UMUC policies.

    3. This policy is effective as of the fall 2005 term.

  2. Graduation Requirements

    1. To graduate with a master’s degree or Doctoral degree from the Graduate School, students must submit proof of the following:

      1. Successful completion of the required number of semester hours and other requirements as prescribed by the specific program curriculum.

      2. A combined 3.0 GPA in all Graduate School courses (see Policy 210.18). Master’s students may not apply a grade of F toward degree requirements. Doctoral students may not apply a grade of C or lower toward degree requirements.       3. Completion of all coursework within the time frame required by the specific program.
