SUBJECT: Doctoral Program Policies
-
Introduction
-
This policy applies to the UMUC Doctor of Management (DM) Program only.
-
This policy is effective as of the spring 2009 term.
-
Admissions Criteria
Admission to the DM Program is competitive. Meeting or exceeding the eligibility standards does not guarantee admission. DM applicants must submit the required application materials by the published deadlines in order to be considered for admission (see www.umuc.edu/doctor). The following criteria represent the minimum eligibility standards:
Evidence of a completed master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
At least five years of professional experience; and
A score of 650 or above on the GMAT or successful completion (grade of B or better) in DMGT 600.
-
Academic Levels of Progress
-
UMUC has developed academic advising services in accordance with the Board of Regents Policy III-2.50 Policy on Academic Advising, approved on June 21, 1990.
-
The cumulative grade-point average is calculated and reviewed at the end of every semester or term of enrollment.
-
A cumulative grade–point average of 3.0 is required to remain in good academic standing.
-
A grade of F will result in academic dismissal from the DM Program, regardless of GPA.
-
A course in which a grade of C is earned must be repeated in the next semester of enrollment and a grade of B or better must be earned to restore the GPA to a minimum of 3.0.
-
In addition to meeting the academic levels of progress outlined above, DM students who receive financial aid are required to meet the satisfactory academic progress standards outlined in UMUC Policy 220.31 – Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Standard – Graduate Students.
-
- Degree Completion Timeline
All courses and requirements for the doctoral degree must be completed within seven years from the first semester of enrollment in the DM program.
