University of Maryland University College has designed a series of educational events on cloud computing in collaboration with various experts in the field, targeting professionals working in the Federal Government, including IT executives and program managers, and IT professionals seeking to advance their careers.

In preparation for the new master's in cloud computing architecture program, UMUC will be hosting two informative webinars on cloud computing and IT. Members of the UMUC community will also be taking part in a special Federal News Radio broadcast, Ask the CIO.

On Tuesday, August 22, UMUC will host the Advancing a Cloud First Approach in the Federal Government webinar, where you will learn how cloud computing can enable the Federal Government to improve agility, security, and cost efficiencies. This webinar will be of interest to IT executives and managers at all stages of their cloud computing implementation journey.

On Tuesday, August 29, UMUC will host the Taking Ownership of Your Federal IT Career webinar, where you will hear from Federal CIOs, past and present, and senior educators in the IT, cybersecurity, and cloud computing fields discuss the important steps you need to take to advance your IT career. During this webinar, our presenters will identify the five things you need to do to take ownership of your IT career.

On Thursday, August 24, UMUC faculty member Peter Young will be taking part in a special Federal News Radio broadcast, Ask the CIO, which will air at 10 a.m. ET and 2 p.m. ET. Young, senior vice president of analytics, planning, and technology, joined UMUC in 2011 as chief information officer and has more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in information technology. He will also be joined by Maria Roat, who is a UMUC alum and CIO of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
