UMUC faculty member Mansur Hasib’s book has been nominated for inclusion in the Cybersecurity Canon, a listing of essential books on cybersecurity.

Hasib is the program chair for UMUC’s graduate cybersecurity technology program. His latest book, Cybersecurity Leadership: Powering the Modern Organization, addresses the business challenges unique to cybersecurity and offers critical leadership principles for interdisciplinary organizational leaders and technology professionals.

“The goal of the book is to provide executives—or anyone really—a complete cybersecurity leadership course, including a business-level understanding of what cybersecurity is,” said Hasib. “I wanted readers to understand that people and innovation are critical components of the field.”

Created by Palo Alto Networks, a provider of next-generation security platforms, the Cybersecurity Canon includes both fiction and nonfiction works that are considered “must-read” books for cybersecurity practitioners in government, the private sector, and academia.

In reviewing the book, Canon committee member Dawn-Marie Hutchinson wrote, “As a cybersecurity leader, I found this to be a must-read and a healthy refresher on executive management with decisive Jesuit leadership influence.”
