Get an E-Book:
This section will show you how to access UMUC's e-books from a remote location such as your home or office, or at a UMUC on-site location. To view or check out e-books, all UMUC library users need to Create a NetLibrary Account. A previous section, Find an E-Book: Getting Started, discussed how to locate catalog records for e-books. Use the information from the catalog record to view or check out e-books in NetLibrary. See Using NetLibrary for instructions on how to access e-books.
A "UMUC on-site location" is defined here as any of the computers on the UMUC network at the Student and Faculty Services Center (including the Information and Library Services library as well as computer labs or offices in the building), the PG Metro Center, and University Center. The first time you use NetLibrary, you will need to set up an account. Please refer to Creating a NetLibrary Account if you have never before checked out NetLibrary e-books. Then return to this portion of the tutorial. From the catalog record, click on the link that begins with http://www.netlibrary.com Once connected you can view or check out the e-book. See Using NetLibrary for instructions on how to log in, create an account, search by keyword, search by title, view e-books, check out e-books, check in e-books, and log out. The next section will discuss linking to government documents through the library catalog. |
