Find an E-Book:
Note that there are two ways to access UMUC's collection of e-books: from a UMUC location, or remotely. As mentioned in the section Before You Search, here is a list of UMUC locations:
All other locations worldwide such as your home or office are considered remote. Note: All UMUC library users can access our collection of e-books either remotely or from a UMUC location, but the method will be slightly different. If you are at a remote location, you will need to do the following:
You can find records of many e-books in the UMUC collection through the library catalog. Note that some of UMUC's e-books may not yet appear in the library catalog. For the most complete search of UMUC's e-book collection, you can search NetLibrary directly. To use the library catalog to find e-books, please use the following steps: 1. Connect to the library catalog from the UMUC Information and Library Services Web page by clicking on the Books & Media link. 2. Once you click on the link you will see the basic search screen. To search for e-books owned by UMUC, you need to limit your search to only those items within the UMUC collection. To do this click other catalogs. 3. Next, you will see a list in two columns of all the USMAI libraries. Below is a list of libraries you would see in the right column. Scroll down to the section for University of Maryland University College and click catalog. 4. Now you can limit your search to items in electronic format such as e-books and Web pages. First, click advanced search. 5. At the advanced search screen, go to the line marked format. Use the pull down menu to display the various format options available to you, and select Electronic Resources (all) This will allow you to search for electronic books and links to Web pages that are included in the catalog. The next section will discuss how to search the library catalog for e-books. |
