Information & Library Services is Moving to Largo!

We will be moving to the new UMUC Academic Center at Largo in December. Here are some things you should know.

How will the library operate during the move transition (December 3 - January 2)?
Although Wednesday, December 2, 2009, will be our last day of walk-in operations at the Student  and Faculty Services Center in Adelphi, other library services will continue to be operational throughout the transition:

• Chat, e-mail and instant messaging services will continue to be available from our Ask a Librarian page.
• Phone service will be available, except for Thursday 12/3, Friday 12/4, and Monday 12/7.
• Book pick-up and drop-off will be available at the Information Desk in the second floor lobby of the Student and Faculty Services Center at Adelphi. (This service will continue after the completion of the move.)
• Public computers will continue to be available at Adelphi in the open access lab located in room 1270 of the Student and Faculty Services Center.
• Online services, such as access to the library Web site and library databases, will be unaffected.
• Appointments for assistance via walk-in, telephone, and Web conferencing will also be available. Please complete the Request an Appointment Form.

When will walk-in service be restored?
On January 3, 2010, our new public area will open. The hours have not yet been determined.

Where will the library be located in the new Academic Center at Largo building?
The library will be on the first floor close to the main entrance. The address will be 1616 McCormick Drive, Largo, MD, 20774.

What will the library have?
The new public services area will have computers, in-person assistance, and the library's collection of books and periodicals.

Why is the library moving?
It is very important for Information & Library Services' offices to be close to the School of Undergraduate Studies, the Graduate School of Management and Technology, and UMUC's other academic support units at the new Academic Center. We carefully considered the options for continuing to maintain a service area at Adelphi, however we ultimately determined that it would not be feasible to do so.
