Biography
Sonya-Marie Mercer is the assistant director of Special Projects for the School of Undergraduate Studies at University of Maryland University College (UMUC). She coordinates four special programs, including "Better Opportunities Through Online Education" and "Partners in Progress". Mrs. Mercer has been in the field of education for 14 years, and with UMUC since July of 2002. She has obtained degrees from Antioch College (Yellow Springs, OH), University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and Regent University (VA Beach, VA).
Nomination Essay
I am nominating Sonya-Marie for a seat on ASAC because she is a valuable member of the UMUC team. Sonya-Marie is a positive and creative individual who is committed to UMUC and our students. I am confident that the same dedication and passion that drives her every day work on the behalf of students, will also be present in her role as a staff representative on ASAC. I am honored to nominate her and look forward to working with her on the council.
