Title: Associate Director, Staff Development and Training

Biography

I am in my seventh year at UMUC and am currently Associate Director of Staff Development and Training, Office of Enrollment Management. In this capacity, I develop and implement programs and activities in professional and leadership development, personal effectiveness, and business communication skills. Current projects involve programs for new and ongoing staff in team-building and customer service.

I also served for two and half years as Associate Director of Information and Customer Service where I managed the daily operations of the university information desk. This position put me in touch with university-wide departments and staff and broadened my knowledge of UMUC’s resources, goals, policies, operations, and culture.

My previous experience includes teaching and training and development in higher education, secondary education, and private industry. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and a Master of Education degree with concentration in adult learning and organizational development.

Nomination Essay

I am interested in serving on ASAC because of the wide-reaching function it serves and the opportunity it affords to work with a diverse staff across the university. I had the opportunity to work as a volunteer the past two years on Take Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day and thoroughly enjoyed working with the council. I wish to continue to round out my experience with UMUC and increase my knowledge of this complex organization as it continues to grow and change.
