2008/2009
  • EFMD CEL Accreditation, the highest international standard of technology-enhanced learning programs in the field of management education
    Awarded to UMUC’s Master of Distance Education (MDE) program. The awarding body regarded UMUC's MDE program as a "best practice case in academia."

  • GetEducated.com Best Buys
    Awards UMUC's computer science programs for their high quality and affordability. The MS in accounting and information technology, the MS in information technology, and the MS in information technology, telecommunications management programs were each ranked as Best Buys out of a survey of 67 distance education computer learning programs offered by regionally accredited institutions nationwide.

  • "2008 Lasting Achievement Award"
    Awarded to Open Learning Fire Service Program (OPLFSP) for educating thousands of fire service personnel for almost 30 years.

  • Bronze medal from the Instructional Management Systems (IMS) Global Learning Consortium
    Awarded to CSI (Center for Support of Instruction) for the use of technology to improve learning across all educational segments and in all regions of the world. UMUC's DE Oracle designated as "Best in Category, Faculty Development Network." Additionally, the Graduate School receives a "Best in Category Certificate for Best Online Laboratory: Online Hands-On Labs in Information Assurance."

    Awarded to UMUC's online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

    Granted to the Master of Distance Education degree program as an e-learning program.

  • UCEA Mid-Atlantic Region "Award for Credit Program Development"
    Awarded to UMUC's MS in Biotechnology program.

    Awarded for the marketing CDs, "Homeland Security Programs CD" and "Better Opportunities through Online Education."

    Awarded to UMUC for "the highest possible excellence in the fields of open, distance, virtual, and flexible learning."

  • Black Issues in Higher Education magazine
    Ranks UMUC seventh in the nation for awarding master’s degrees to African Americans.
