Most of the scholarships listed below are renewable. Renewable scholarships are those that allow recipients to remain eligible for aid under the same program for more than one year. To be considered for renewal, you must reapply each year. Renewal awards are not guaranteed. You may receive one UMUC scholarship or grant award per academic year.

Note: Unless otherwise indicated, UMUC undergraduate scholarships require a minimum GPA of 2.5 and completion of 15 undergraduate credits at UMUC and UMUC graduate scholarships require a minimum GPA of 3.0 and completion of 9 graduate credits at UMUC.

    • Female students seeking degrees in either undergraduate technical management or graduate telecommunications

  • Eiker Foote and Foote Memorial Scholarship
    • Resides in DC or PG County, MD, or graduated from H.S. in either jurisdiction
    • Preference for students specializing in English or literature
    • Additional criteria for selection of the recipient stipulate a minimum 3.25 GPA for an already enrolled university student, or a 3.5 GPA for graduating high school students. A recipient must maintain a GPA of a least 3.25 to continue to qualify for the award.

    • Completion of 60 credits toward bachelor’s degree (for undergraduate applicants)
    • Enrollment for 6 credits during the award period

  • Excellence in Technology– Shady Grove Scholarship
    • Completion of 6 undergraduate or graduate credits at UMUC
    • Resident of Montgomery County
    • Must be enrolled in an on-site course at Shady Grove during term scholarship awarded.

  • Marriott Foundation Scholarship
    • Completion of 30 credits at UMUC for undergraduate students
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 at UMUC for undergraduate students and a minimum GPA of 3.3 for graduate students
    • Enrolled in information technology or computer science programs in either the undergraduate or graduate school at UMUC
  • The Millennial Scholarship Endowed Fund
    • Demonstrated financial need

    • Awards are offered to support students at UMUC

  • The James O’ Donnell Information Technology Scholarship Fund
    • Awards are offered to provide financial support to graduate, undergraduate and certificate program students that are in the Information Technology (IT) related fields, including Project Management
    • Must maintain an average GPA of a 2.5 or higher

  • Donna H. Cunninghame Endowed Scholarship Fund
    • Awards are offered to provide support to single parents

  • The University College Endowment Fund
    • Demonstrated financial need
    • GPA requirement: 3.75

  • St. Clair and Maria Thomas Scholarship
    • Preference given to German origin whose studies include American History
    • Demonstrated financial need

  • Southern Maryland Scholarship Fund
    • To provide support to residents of Southern Maryland
    • Demonstrated financial need

In addition to the aforementioned scholarships, UMUC offers a number of President's Grants through a need-based grant program that provides up to $1,000 per year for eligible undergraduate students and up to $1,200 per year for eligible graduate students.
