You may request slide, overhead, and LCD projectors, or other teaching aids by speaking with your academic director, program director, or your teaching site. The Shady Grove, Waldorf, and Fort Meade offices have audiovisual equipment for use at those sites. Dorsey Station has "smart" podiums with built-in equipment.
Order equipment from your academic unit, preferably one week in advance but no later than 48 hours before you need to use it. Overhead projectors, slide projectors, and VCR/DVD players and monitors are available only for one class meeting at a time. Equipment can be reserved for multiple class meetings but must still be returned after each class meeting.
A limited number of overhead projectors can be reserved for the duration of the semester. Your academic unit will submit your equipment reservation to the Teaching Aid Distribution (TAD) Center. The TAD Center distributes the equipment from Room 0127 of the Inn and Conference Center.
Reserved equipment can be picked up from or returned to the TAD Center from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
NOTE: After business hours and Saturdays, equipment can be dropped off at the TAD Center; however you must use the wall phone to call for assistance. Staff from Computer Operations (ICC Room 0131) will meet you at the TAD Center.
The TAD Center distributes equipment to UMUC faculty and staff only. Students and teaching assistants can not pick up equipment in place of the faculty member.
If you have any questions on how to use the equipment, contact the TAD Center at 301-985-7019 during business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Laptop/portable computers can be reserved by contacting your academic department.
We encourage you to use the resources of the Nonprint Media Center in the Hornbake Library. Reservations should be made well in advance by calling 301-405-9236.
