Heritage Month - April
National Poetry Month |
Inaugurated by the Academy in April 1996, National Poetry Month (NPM) brings together publishers, booksellers, literary organizations, libraries, schools, and poets around the country to celebrate poetry and its vital place in American culture. Thousands of businesses and non-profit organizations participate through readings, festivals, book displays, workshops, and other events. For more information, visit The Academy for American Poets website.
Celebrate National Poetry Month and Shakespeare's Birthday
Join us for a celebration in honor of William Shakespeare's birthday and National Poetry Month. On April 16, attend an evening of readings of recent, original poetry, as well as fiction works by members of the UMUC community. Feel free to come dressed in a Renaissance costume or Renaissance-inspired attire! The event is sponsored by the Office of Diversity Initiatives and the Constellation reading series in the Department of Communications, Arts & Humanities, School of Undergraduate Studies.
Be sure to pick up your copy of the 2009 Constellation Literary Journal.
