Held several times a year in conjunction with the Heritage Month Series, the Constellation Poetry Hour provides a forum for UMUC students, faculty, and staff to share their own writing and to enjoy the work of invited poets.

Poetry Slam Competition

A poetry slam is an event where poets perform their work and are judged on their writing and performance. This first-ever UMUC poetry slam competition celebrated African American Heritage Month.
Poetry Hour with Mong-Lan
March 27, 2006
Mong-Lan, a writer, visual artist, and dancer, came to the United States as a child with her family just one day before the fall of Saigon in 1975. Her books include, Song of the Cicadas, which won the 2000 Juniper Prize, and Why is the Edge Always Windy.
