Summer Faculty Leadership Institute - Center for Teaching and Learning

2005 Summer Institute Description

On August 1-4, 2005, UMUC's Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) hosted its Summer Faculty Leadership Institute: Instructional Strategies and Learning Outcomes in Adelphi, Maryland. Bringing together close to fifty DE faculty and faculty development staff from Europe, Asia, and the United States, this institute's purpose was to improve instruction at UMUC by acquainting participants with strategies for effective writing assignments and integrating multimedia with instructional content. In addition, a plenary session on outcomes assessment was held.

A post-institute project commitment encourages participants to share what they have learned with academic/program directors and colleagues in their discipline. The institute is highly interactive and very much a collaborative effort between CTL and various units within UMUC.
