Cooperative Education

Course Content

The goal of Cooperative Education is to unite academic theory with real-world experience. The Co-op Learning Contract and the five additional assignments are tools to make the most of your academic and career journeys.

The Co-op Learning Contract, based upon the learning proposal, allows you to make revisions or modifications if some of the tasks you outlined in the learning proposal have changed or if your faculty sponsor has suggestions. The contract is based on your learning proposal and the comments provided by your faculty sponsor. The contract finalizes and formalizes your Co-op with your supervisor and your faculty sponsor. It essentially becomes the syllabus for your 15 weeks, and is worth 50% of your grade.

You should make sure you submit drafts of your learning contract to your faculty sponsor before it is due, so he or she can give you feedback as necessary.

The employer agreement (.pdf) must be completed and mailed to the Career and Cooperative Education center by the third week of your Co-op. Both you and your worksite supervisor must sign the agreement.
