Leroy Merrit Center for the Art of Joseph Sheppard
UMUC is expanding its Arts Program and Adelphi campus to include this impressive new facility designed by well-known Baltimore architect Jim Grieves. It is intended to be a center for lifelong learning and an enduring tribute to the accomplished painter and sculptor, Joseph Sheppard.

This vivid exhibition examines the notion of work, particularly the conditions of hard, physical, and often dangerous occupations. Sheppard applies his talents to condemn exploitation and bring attention to the universal condition of labor and the dignity of the working class.
This event is FREE and open to the public.

An art exhibit showcasing the works of one of Maryland's best known artists, Joseph Sheppard. The exhibit entitled Beast of Burden will showcase more than 50 of Sheppard’s drawings, paintings, and sculptures.
