Online Associate's Degrees for the Military

Earn your associate's degree from UMUC, and stay on track with your education, no matter where you're stationed or deployed.

University of Maryland University College's online associate's degree can help enhance your military training and expertise and could help you earn promotion points. The Associate of Arts is available to active-duty military servicemembers, members of the National Guard, and reservists. If you are eligible, you may enroll in the degree program regardless of whether you are a U.S., Europe, or Asia student, and you can continue your program regardless of where your service takes you.

You can earn an Associate of Arts in General Studies and choose a general or specialized degree plan that fits your military and education goals. You'll be positioned to succeed in a bachelor's degree program, and you'll be ready to climb up the ranks in your military career

The program consists of 35 general education credits and 25 general or specialized credits for a total of 60 credits.

Associate's Degree Specialized Curriculum Options

Accounting

Learn fundamental accounting practices and be ready to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Coursework covers macroeconomics, microeconomics, accounting, research, writing, business law, management organization and theory, and more.

Business and Management

Study core business concepts and principles, and be prepared for a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Coursework covers business statistics, accounting, microeconomics, macroeconomics, writing, and more.

Computer Studies

Gain an understanding of the fundamentals of computing and a foundation for a bachelor's degree in a related field. Coursework covers algorithm design, concepts and applications of information technology, economics, research, writing, and more.

Criminal Justice

Get to know the criminal justice system and be ready to apply your knowledge to your career or to a related bachelor's degree. Coursework covers criminal law, law enforcement, security management, research, writing, criminology, and more.

Foreign Language Area Studies

Choose from Arabic, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, and Japanese and start learning foreign language communication skills. In addition to learning the language of your choice, you'll build a strong academic foundation in areas from science to writing to economics. Some language courses and programs may only be available in Europe or Asia.

Management Studies

Study management principles and position yourself to succeed in your career and a related bachelor's degree. Coursework covers business and management, macroeconomics, microeconomics, business statistics, media and society, and more.

Mathematics

Get a deep understanding of mathematics, from calculus to differential equations to linear algebra and more, and be ready for a bachelor's degree or career that requires a strong foundation in the subject. In addition to taking various math courses, you'll take classes in a range of other areas to support your learning.

Women's Studies

Learn the history, status, and experience of women in professional, personal, and educational contexts and prepare for a related bachelor's degree or career. Coursework covers women and society, diversity, media and society, humanities, and more.
